What is Sleep Easy?
Sleep Easy is a YMCA fundraising initiative raising money to help change the lives of vulnerable young people locally.
Where does the money go?
All the money raised from YMCA Derbyshire’s Sleep Easy event goes towards the Safe Front Door Campaign. This campaign enables YMCA Derbyshire to continue providing safe accommodation, opportunities for young people to engage in positive activities, work experience and volunteer opportunities.
As a result of 80 people sleeping rough last year YMCA Derbyshire has;
– Provided 151 beds each night
– Accommodated 299 people (increase of 88 people from previous year)
We are proud to report within 12 months:
– 72% of residents moved on to live independently
– 21% returned to live with family/friends.
– 47% are already in employment, training or volunteer posts.
Why take part?
We know Sleeping Rough for a night is a HUGE challenge so we’d like to quickly tell you a bit more about one of the young people we supported last year. This gives you an idea of the changes you can make to people’s lives as a result of Sleeping Rough For One Night:
All are welcome to take part!
Previous particpants have said:
“Sleep Easy was anything but. I found it challenging and perhaps life changing. I understand we changed lives along the way and hence the frozen shoes I woke to were worth it!
I’d throughally reccomend this experience to any business looking for a really great cause to support. It really helped us raise our game and team build too.” Richard Salt, MD Bell & Co.
“None of us are that sporty, we can’t really run marathons, so this is a great way to raise money for a local charity”. Team Cooper Parry.
