Ella had a difficult time when she started school, getting bullied quite badly, which eventually ended in another girl breaking her elbow. In year 10, Ella had to leave school where she had been studying catering, which she really wanted to continue with, and so came to join us at YMCA Key College.
“I want to be a chef or work in a bakery, I have done ever since I was little. When I went to my induction at YMCA Key College, the tutor was really nice and polite and felt like someone I wanted to be around”.
Ella has been studying Catering & Hospitality at YMCA Key College for two years and passed her Level 2 in English and Maths – we are extremely proud of the person she is becoming.
“In the morning, if I know I am coming to College, it’s my safe place. I’ve built trust and I like all the staff here. I like that they have a plan every day. I made my first cake at Key College! I’ve made friends with people on my course and it feels good because I feel connected because some people have had similar experiences to me.”
In September, Ella will be turning 18 and she has her first job interview – we can’t wait to hear how she gets on with her new found confidence and happiness.
