YMCA Derbyshire has opened 15 new units of accommodation on Ray Street in Heanor, Derbyshire. The housing team will be supporting people who find themselves homeless in the area to get back on their feet and gain independence.

Aimed at 18-35 year old’s, these self-contained flats provide short-term accommodation with support from our Housing Navigators, who are based on-site five days a week. The support offered comes in the form of building connections, helping with personal development, advice on training and employment opportunities and life skills with personal development.

The open and airy self-contained flats include a bed, duvet, duvet cover, washing machine, cooker, microwave and en-suite, giving all residents the opportunity to make their flat their own by adding personal touches. Alongside this, the flats are fully secure, with CCTV around the building and security staff who cover through the night.

Hollie, our Housing Navigator, said: “It’s such a joy to be part of this project. Every day I work with wonderful people who really want to get back on their feet and create a brilliant life for themselves.”

The aim of opening our new units of accommodation in Heanor is to provide the opportunity of a new beginning. These flats are best suited to those looking for a place to live for up to one year. Our expert team will work with you to get ready for, locate and secure longer term accommodation as soon as you feel you want to.

If you’d like to apply for a space at YMCA Derbyshire’s Heanor Project, you must be applying for or in receipt of welfare benefits, you must be willing and reading to engage with support and you should have a local area connection to Amber Valley.
