How do you feel about maths?

If the mention of the word fills you with dread or you instantly think ‘I can’t do Maths’, then Project Multiply could be perfect for you!

We know that not everyone likes maths and not everyone achieves a qualification, but maths is an important subject in daily life. You need it to:

Project Multiply has successfully delivered a range of practical activities, helping participants build confidence and have fun using maths.

Across Derby and Derbyshire, we hosted a variety of family fun days, providing free food, exciting prizes, and engaging maths-based activities. Additionally, our short courses in Derby gave many people the opportunity to improve their skills in enjoyable and accessible ways.

We’re proud of the impact Project Multiply has made and grateful to everyone who took part. Thank you for joining us on this journey to make maths more fun and approachable!

What is Multiply?

In 2022 the government invested £560 million in a new programme called Multiply. The intention was to encourage adults to develop confidence and skills in numeracy because:

“People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.” – education hub blog

That all probably seems a bit heavy, but the truth is that we are all surrounded by numbers every day and the ability to manage household finances or help children with their homework can make a big difference to a person’s wellbeing and personal situation.
