Tens of thousands raised for YMCA Derbyshire
Together, we have raised an incredible £24,667.28 to help us continue our vital work across YMCA Derbyshire and Padley@YMCA Derbyshire, supporting young people and communities at risk of homelessness and poverty.
Our teams have done an incredible job of fundraising! Our Sleep Easy campaign is still running, so please head over to our Just Giving Campaign page if you would like to donate.
Memories from our 16th YMCA Sleep Easy
Spirits were high throughout the evening, with Griffith Foods keeping everyone fuelled on the BBQ, serving up hundreds of sausages and burgers to supporters. Meanwhile, our Youth Worker Paul and residents kept the fire going, creating a warm and welcoming hub at the heart of the event as participants geared up for the unique experience of Sleep Easy.
The rain didn’t deter our fundraisers from getting stuck into building their cardboard shelters for the night. We saw towers, shelters that included internal bedrooms and corridors, a light up tree and even a museum constructed from cardboard. Some of our residents joined us for the evening to judge the wonderfully wacky cardboard shelter competition, bringing those taking part together with the very people their fundraising efforts will support.
As the night unfolded, participants shared stories, built new connections and took time to reflect on the realities of homelessness and poverty before settling down for the night.
We did it!
Thanks to those that slept out, we were pleased to announce we had hit our target of £20,000, which has since risen to an incredible £24,667.28!
“So very proud of all the staff and supporters at YMCA Derbyshire 16th annual sleep easy event. We are able yet again thanks to the efforts of over 95 people and the generosity of their supporters add funds to our mental health, youth and community and poverty relief services. One night makes such a difference.” Gillian Sewell, CEO, YMCA Derbyshire.
All funds raised will go directly into our Changing Lives Fund, supporting residents at YMCA Derbyshire with activities, opportunities and experiences that build confidence, develop essential life skills, and nurture mind, body and spirit.
The fund also supports the families and individuals in our wider community who access services through Padley@YMCA Derbyshire, ensuring they receive the practical help, guidance and encouragement they need during challenging times.
