One Night Could Make a Lifetime of Difference
Homelessness is a harsh reality for far too many people in Derby and Derbyshire. Each year we run YMCA Sleep Easy, a challenge where you spend a night sleeping outside to raise awareness and vital funds to help young people, families and communities facing hardship locally.
Join our amazing Sleep Easy community and come together with others who want to make a difference.
Event Details
We will be swapping our beds for sleeping bags and spending the night outside in the Central Co-op County Ground carpark.

Funds raised from Sleep Easy enables our teams to continue providing vital support to our young people, individuals and communities most in need. Each night we provide housing for over 200 people, all of whom temporarily find themselves without a place to live. We also offer a range of support services from our Padley@YMCA Derbyshire Community Hub.
We offer warm safe spaces, access to home cooked meals and food parcels, counselling, support and advice on a range of issues including healthcare, welfare, housing and debt. Daily activities help people develop skills and resilience, including sports, arts and crafts, horticulture, wellbeing, volunteer opportunities, and work placement programmes.
We help each individual move along their positive pathway so that they can truly belong, contribute and thrive.
Sleep Easy FAQ's
- Hot drinks throughout the night and following morning – please feel free to bring a flask to fill up.
- Hot food
- A cardboard box to sleep in or please feel free to bring your own.
You can set your own fundraising target. Every penny raised makes a difference to the work YMCA Derbyshire and Padley@YMCA Derbyshire are doing to support those affected by homelessness and or poverty.
The evening has an informal feel with time spent networking and chatting round the campfire. We have our annual ‘Customise Your Box’ competition and there is no set ‘bed time’! You would be more than welcome to sit round the camp fire chatting all night if you wish.
Once you have purchased a ticket you will receive an email from our fundraising team with your participant pack and information about how to get started with your fundraising, thank you we look forward to seeing you there.
