Change Lives this Christmas

We are seeing more and more individuals and families across the city struggling with the cost of living, unemployment, lack of affordable housing and poor mental and physical health. More than 23,000 children are living in poverty in Derby, this on average is higher than other cities across the UK. More than 10,000 people are on the waiting list for social housing in Derby.

We provide 225 homes and personalised support services for a fresh start in life through our supported housing pathways. We provide opportunities to gain qualifications, skills and employment through our college and unemployment programmes.

Our Community Hub provides support and advice as well as practical services for any barriers and we partnership work with other support organisations to make sure our beneficiaries have the best opportunity to move along their positive pathway.

Here are the ways you can support people in your community this Christmas.

Jolly Jumper

Dig out your best (or perhaps your worst!) Christmas jumper and donate just £1 to make a difference.

Whether you’re at work, school, or out with friends, sporting your festive knit can help change lives this Christmas. Your minimum donation of £1 will go a long way in supporting those in need.

YMCA Christmas Ball

Join us for a fantastic evening at the YMCA Christmas Ball, hosted by Ian Morgan OBE, High Sheriff of Derbyshire.

Enjoy a dazzling drinks reception, a sumptuous three-course festive banquet, and dance to live music from Pride Park’s DJ.

Funds raised will support our Changing Lives Fund, providing vital services like wellbeing support, training programs, and community meals for those in need.

Participate in our live auction and raffle for exclusive prizes, all while helping to combat homelessness and social isolation.

Together, let’s make a difference this Christmas!

The Derby Santa Run

The Derby Santa Run 2024 is coming to Markeaton Park on Sunday, December 8th, inviting the whole community to join in a festive 5k fun run organised by Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity in collaboration with eight local Derby charities.

The event is open to adults, children, and even four-legged friends, encouraging everyone to participate in this festive event. Participants will receive a free Santa suit and are welcome to run, walk, skip, or dance their way around the course. Along the route, there will be festive surprises, a brass band, hot food, and live DJ music to keep spirits high. Runners will also have the chance to meet the hospital charity’s mascot, Lambie!
