Showcasing the Work of YMCA Derbyshire
The afternoon began with YMCA Derbyshire taking to the stage to highlight the vital work we do across the county, supporting young people and communities at risk of homelessness to build brighter, more stable futures.
A particularly powerful moment came when our CEO, Gillian Sewell, shared her inspirational story of becoming YMCA Derbyshire’s CEO, the challenges she has overcome, and, most importantly, the women who have influenced, guided, and supported her throughout her career. Her reflections were an important reminder of the power of mentorship, resilience, and lifting one another up.
Inspirational Voices from Across Derbyshire
We were honoured to hear from an outstanding panel of local women, including:
-
Maria Fowler – Bloom Reformer Studio
-
Tina Clough – Poppy PR Derby
-
Natalie Fletcher – Naturally Flawless Aesthetics
-
Emma Prosser – Author
-
Tilly Dowler – Wanted Wardrobe
Each speaker brought honesty, authenticity, and passion to the conversation, sharing stories of business growth, personal challenges, confidence, and community impact. Their openness created a space where experiences were celebrated, lessons were shared, and inspiration flowed freely.
Partnership That Makes a Difference
Events like this are only possible through strong community partnerships. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of NK Motor Group and Nicco’s, whose commitment to our local charity makes a tangible difference.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone who purchased tickets, £5 from every ticket sold is being donated directly to YMCA Derbyshire. These funds will go towards supporting individuals at risk of homelessness. Helping them to access guidance and the tools they need not just to survive, but to truly thrive.
A Celebration of Community and Purpose
The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was one of encouragement, celebration, and solidarity. From business leaders to creatives, from entrepreneurs to community advocates, the room was filled with women championing one another’s success.
As part of the wider movement led by YMCA England & Wales, we are proud to stand alongside women across the country who are creating change in their communities every day.
To every speaker who shared their story, every guest who attended, and our valued partners who made it all possible — thank you. Together, we celebrated achievements, strengthened connections, and raised vital funds to support those who need us most.
Here’s to continuing the conversation, empowering future leaders, and building a community where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.
