Teeing off for Charity - The YMCA Derbyshire Charity Golf Day 2026
YMCA Derbyshire was delighted to welcome supporters, partners, businesses, and friends to this year’s YMCA Derbyshire Golf Day at Chevin Golf Club.
With sunshine throughout the day, 27 teams took to the course for a fantastic day of golf, networking, and community spirit, all in support of YMCA Derbyshire’s work to transform the lives of young people and communities across Derby and Derbyshire.
The event brought together an inspiring mix of local businesses, supporters, and community partners, demonstrating the strength of collaboration and a shared commitment to making a positive difference across the region. Julian Smith, Chair of YMCA Derbyshire and representative of The Alternative Board team during the day said, “The YMCA Derbyshire Golf Day continues to demonstrate the strength of support that exists within our business community for the work of YMCA Derbyshire.
It was fantastic to see so many organisations and partners coming together, not only to build valuable connections, but to actively invest in the future growth and development of services that support young people and communities across Derbyshire.

Over £17,000 Raised for YMCA Derbyshire’s Changing Lives Fund
We are absolutely delighted to share that the event raised an incredible £17,387. Grace Harrison, Director of Development at YMCA Derbyshire, said:
“Seeing so many businesses, supporters, and partners come together for our YMCA Derbyshire Golf Day was incredibly special. To raise more than £17,000 for our Changing Lives Fund is an amazing achievement and will make a real difference to young people and communities across Derbyshire.
At a time when many people are facing significant challenges, these funds will help us continue providing vital mental health support, wellbeing activities, training, and opportunities that enable people to move forward positively. We are hugely grateful to everyone who supported the day and helped make such a meaningful impact.”
Funds raised from the Golf Day will go directly into YMCA Derbyshire’s Changing Lives Fund. This vital fund enables the charity to provide critical support services and opportunities, including:
- Mental health support
- Diversionary and wellbeing activities
- Horticulture programmes
- Training and employment opportunities
- Work-based learning programmes
These services help young people and community members move forward positively and build brighter futures.
